If you follow us on Instagram, you would have seen my amazing breakfasts during my holiday in Dubai. Cronuts, French toast, eggs, crêpes, waffle pops…they even had dim sum! Naturally, I had to try it all! I was practically having a 10 course breakfast every morning, to fit in everything they had (which explains my weight gain during my holiday). My family and I tended to skip lunch due to our heavy breakfasts, before going straight to dinner in the evening. One day, we were really hungry and decided to have a light snack so that we didn’t ruin our dinner plans. My mum followed the rules and went to New York Fries, and the rest of us… well… our idea of a light snack was a big, fat burger… oops!
We were in Mall of the Emirates and I was choosing between Shake Shack and Burger Fuel. I’ve never had Burger Fuel before, and I’ve heard great things about their burgers so I was excited to try it out.
Hot Rod Burger (Dhs 36)
As you can see, they serve really big burgers, compared to Shake Shack, but they don’t look as appetising. I opted for the Hot Rod burger, which has the addition of jalapenos, to add more flavour and spice. They claim to be “gourmet burgers”, but the meat was not fresh at all. The burger was dry and lacked flavour and juiciness. The bun was soggy and could not maintain all of the ingredients. The sauce was not nice and overall, it was a really disappointing meal. The fries served alongside, were ordinary and nothing special either.
My dad ordered the Fuel Basic and could agree with everything I said, and my aunty ordered the chicken burger, which she said was actually quite nice.
In terms of the price, I think it’s expensive and not great value for money. Next time, I will definitely be sticking to Shake Shack!
