When I visit a new country or city, I love to try the cuisine of that place. It’s always more authentic and delicious. I didn’t realise until Logma kindly invited me to their restaurant, that despite visiting Dubai in the past, I had never eaten Emirati food! Excited about this thought, I looked at Logma’s menu, which is filled with amazing Khaleeji treats that I couldn’t wait to eat.
Logma, which means “little bites” succeeds in combining traditional with contemporary, and reviving Dubai’s culture. Its aim is to use fresh ingredients to create healthy meals in an environment that feels like home. The use of wooden panels throughout the restaurant creates a more traditional vibe, whilst the bright colours make it modern at the same time. I loved it!
Upon entering, we were greeted with “assalamualaikum” and all the waiters were wearing the traditional keffiyeh. I also noticed that the restaurant was full of locals, which was a good start in showing me that their food was popular and must taste good!
SAMBOOSA CHEESE (AED 32)
This samboosa felt like a big hug! It was warm and extra cheesy (yaaaas) and so creamy. I love that the outer layer was thin and crispy, rather than the thick-like pastry that is quite common.
LOGMA FRIES (AED 28)
Probably the crispiest fries I’ve ever had! Topped with Khaleeji seasoning, it had an Emirati twist that I really enjoyed.
HALLOUMI (AED 39)
Logma really does make you spoilt for choice with their extensive menu. We decided to go for some khameer sandwiches. Their halloumi sandwich was my favourite out of the two that we ordered. Halloumi can be quite chewy and rubbery, but this cheese was softer than usual which was great. It is sandwiched with crispy beef bacon, mint, tomato, roasted peppers, and Logma sauce. YE,S crispy beef bacon mmmm. The textures, and flavours of the beef and cheese made for a delicious sandwich.
ROASTED CHICKEN (AED 38)
This consisted of herb chicken, walnut pesto, sun-dried tomato, and gruyère cheese. You can tell that all the ingredients used are fresh and were of a high quality. I loved that the pesto wasn’t too overpowering, as this is often a problem with chicken and pesto sandwiches!
CHEBAB KATAYEF (AED 42)
Can we all please have a moment of silence for this dessert? I had never heard of this dessert before, but just the sound of it made me drool. “Crisp chebab pancake, date, mascarpone, saffron and cardamom syrup, and vanilla ice cream”. Erm… yes please! The pancake had just the right amount of crispiness on the outside, with a soft centre that was oozing out with deliciousness. And let’s not forget the drizzle of saffron and cardamom syrup on top to add to all the sweetness. You HAVE to try this.
LUGAIMAT (AED 34)
By now, my aunt and I were feeling extremely fat and I could feel my jeans getting tighter. However, Logma’s lovely waiter Ric, did not let us go until we tried the lugaimat. After telling him we were full, he insisted that we try it and if we couldn’t finish it, he’d pack it away for us to take home. Now… I wasn’t going to say no to that, was I?
The dumplings come with a choice of either date syrup or Nutella. Being the Nutella lover that I am, I opted for this – not the most authentic choice, but I already had some dates from the chebab ketayaf. I looked like a rabbit as I popped the whole thing in my mouth, and tried not to get any Nutella on my teeth – oh so lady like. The warmth of the fried, doughy balls made the Nutella extra gooey and runny, yum!
CARAMEL ICED KARAK (AED 27)
What better way to wash it all down on a hot summers day, than with CARAMEL iced karak? It had the perfect amount of caramel to give it an extra sweet kick.
Passion of Arabia and Atlantis (AED 34)
These drinks were so delicious. The Atlantis (lychee, passion fruit, and lime) was more like a mojito, and the Passion of Arabia (passion fruit, pineapple, and juice) was a more of a tropical mojito. The latter was my favourite, and is one of the best mojitos I’ve had!
This was truly an amazing dining experience. I loved everything about Logma and their concept of bringing back traditional Dubai. I loved the food, the venue, the ambience and that the staff were lovely. I’d like to thank Elias, their lovely manager for inviting us and compliments to him for running a really lovely restaurant. Also to Ric, who was serving us and had a lot of knowledge about all of their food.
