Last week, I actually thought to myself… “wow London is surprisingly warm for November!” And then lo and behold, this weekend, winter hit us all with a big bang. It is freeeeezing! Despite wearing five layers of clothes, fluffy socks, being bundled up in a blanket and clutching my hot water bottle for dear life, I was still cold… and dreaming of sunny, warm Dubai. Ahh, the thought of Dubai brought back memories of one of the BEST meals I had this summer. I can’t wait for you to read all about it!
I first discovered Slider Station’s colourful burgers on Instagram, and thought… “whaaaaat areee thoseeeeee” (in a good way of course)! After doing some more research, I thought that their menu looked delicious and the thought of getting sliders on a conveyer belt was rather intriguing. Remember when getting sushi on a conveyer belt was the coolest thing ever? Well, now you can get sliders!! Why didn’t anyone think of this before?
Salted Caramel Milkshake (24Dhs)
Okay, you all know by now that the milkshakes at Five Guys have been my favourite so far. And, unfortunately for Slider Station, they still are. Slider Station got the consistency of the milkshakes right and the flavours were really yummy but something about it didn’t make it as great as Five Guys’.
Pistachio and white chocolate Milkshake (24Dhs)
Now, this milkshake was really good! The unique combination was simply beautiful. The sweetness of the white chocolate wasn’t too overpowering and the hint of pistachio complemented the former well.
Commando fries (45Dhs)
These fries were covered in gooeeey melty Cheddar – Jack cheese, topped with jalapenos and Slider Station’s special sauce. These fries were ahhhmaazing. What is that they say? “Sharing is caring?”, naaah I don’t think so! We were hungry, and so everyone became quiet while we all gobbled these up, oohing and aaahing with pleasure as we waited for more food. Best fries ever!
Korean double fried chicken (60Dhs)
Korean food at a burger joint? Why not?! Not the most authentic Korean food, but double fried chicken sure does sound good! These tender pieces of chicken were coated in gochujang honey glaze – giving it a sweet taste. Gochujang is a savoury spicy, and pungent fermented condiment made from red chili, glutinous rice, fermented soybeans, and salt. The salty/sweet flavour was lovely and the hint of chilli gave it a bit of a kick. When compared to Korean fried chicken I’ve had elsewhere, this really did stand out.
Grilled Tiger Shrimps (80dhs)
Hugeeee tiger shrimps arrived to our table, hot and piping away. These were recommended by one of the waiters and were so scrumptious. They were juicy and oozing with flavour. The charred lemon spicy mayo sauce, which is served alongside the shrimps made for a perfect combination. These are quite pricey but I highly recommend the tiger shrimps as they were divine.
Okay so now time for the SLIDERS! 😀 As you look around the room, all you see are colourful, squidgy buns.
Midnight slider (18dhs)
The midnight slider consists of a soft, pillowy potato bun, topped with cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, mustard onions, pickles, west coast sauce aaand a hearty piece of succulent beef. The condiments of the slider were unique and not like those of normal burgers (ie. big piece of lettuce, tomato, sauce). It was more like a yummy coleslaw topped on the meat. It was different and I loved it. The meat was so flavoursome, it was juicy and it was just how a good burger or slider should be. Definitely on par with places like Shake Shack or Salt…it’s one of the best burgers around.
Dangerous slider (18dhs)
I totally did not order this because it was red and it looked cool and I wanted a cool picture for Instagram. Okay…I kind of did (You know you’re also guilty of that to some extent). This did look really cool! It’s called Dangerous for a reason! It’s not every day you get to see a red, beetroot-bun burger! It was topped with Jack cheese, jalapenos, shredded lettuce, aioli and buttermilk fried chicken. Hands down the best buttermilk fried chicken I’ve tasted. It was of such a good quality and the slight sweetness of the slider had me licking my fingers after I was done.
Wagyu cheese steak slider (30dhs)
I was really excited about this slider but unfortunately, it let us down. The thought of wagyu beef in a slider was extremely appealing, but it was more of a philly steak (shredded) slider, rather than a meaty piece of wagyu that I was expecting. It was a ribeye cut and so it was very flavoursome and fatty, but not too fatty to make it chewy and hard to eat.. The wagyu slider was also topped with pepper jack cheese, grilled mushrooms and onions. The slider was really yummy but I would not recommend it over the other two sliders.
Slider Station’s desserts looked incredible but unfortunately we didn’t get to try them! Next time, I’ll definitely be heading to Slider Station for dessert, or to Cocoa Room (their sister restaurant) for their amazing pancakes!
Slider station is definitely now one of my favourite restaurants in Dubai and serves amazing food. It’s admirable that not only were their sliders good, but their Korean chicken, and tiger prawns were cooked to perfection too. It’s one of those restaurants where everything on the menu is really good and some things are just amazing. My whole family and I loved it and would definitely return. I still think it’s really cool that they serve burgers on a conveyer belt!
