Happy 2016 everyone! 😀
We cannot believe the year went by so fast. Today marks the first of 2016 and it also marks one year since we launched My Big Fat Halal Blog…. so happy birthday to us too! 😀
To celebrate, and as a thank you to the thousands of you who have followed us this year, we are doing not one, not two but THREE giveaways!
The competition is being held on Instagram and Facebook so get following if you haven’t already, to keep up with the competition.
We’ve reviewed 25 restaurants this year, and still have a backlog to cover! We’ve also posted a few recipes, which, if you haven’t already tried, are really quick and simple… especially the oreo truffles that some of you have told us you loved! 😀
We hope to post much more during 2016 but for now, here’s our top 3 favourites of 2015:
Novikov truly was an amazing experience and is the best Pan Asian restaurant we have dined at so far. The food was perfect, the quality was amazing, the ambience was lovely, and it’s situated in beautiful Mayfair. So if you are planning a meal for a special occasion, we would certainly put Novikov near the top of your list.

Slider station is definitely now one of my favourite restaurants in Dubai and serves amazing food.
It’s one of those restaurants where everything on the menu is really good and some things are just amazing. My whole family and I loved it and would definitely return. I still think it’s really cool that they serve colourful burgers on a conveyer belt! – A

The Meat Co. aim towards providing a fine dining experience, and is more than just a steakhouse serving huge juicy steaks. The South African authenticity is admirable, and you are able to enjoy not just high quality food, but you gain a sense of culture by visiting The Meat Co.. That’s why I feel you should visit The Meat Co. – Z

Special Mention: Brioche Burger
We were really impressed with how Brioche Burger transformed from being an average burger joint, to a top burger joint that we really love. Their new menu which serves Aberdeen Angus beef is what they’ve changed and is what you need to try. The Cojack burger is definitely up there with those at top burger joints like Stax! And the steak was really yummy and definitely the best in East London!
