Back in August, I failed an exam – uh oh! It was my driving test and I was so excited to pass and be able to drive, mainly so that I could easily hit up lots of new restaurants. BUT, to my dismay, I failed because… wait for it… I was driving too slowly LOL! Then I started uni, life got busy, and I put off driving for a while. However, I’m pleased to say that on January 30th 2018, my 22-year-old self finally passed her driving test!
Passing my test meant that I could visit restaurants that are slightly inconvenient and longer to get to via public transport (from where I live anyway). One such example is FatBoyz Diner, a burger joint in East Ham.
FatBoyz has a casual vibe to it, with a really cool graffiti wall. Check it out…
WHAT WE ATE:
The menu at Fatboyz is quite large which is great. They have lots of starters ranging from buffalo wings to nachos to mozzarella sticks. Although they sound delicious, we decided to skip starters and go straight for the burgers…
AMERICAN SINGLE (£6) DOUBLE (£7)
My friend Monia ordered the classic American single, and for an extra pound I ordered the double burger.
A tall, dark, handsome burger arrived to our table with a double patty, American cheese, caramelised onions, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard and mayo.
The patty is made with chuck beef, giving it a great depth of flavour because of the weavings of fat! It was incredibly juicy and all the condiments complemented the meat well. The American cheese was beautifully melted on top, and it was all put together in a perfectly squishy, fluffy brioche bun!
Despite being a double burger, the bun managed to withstand all of its contents and it didn’t fall apart.
Safe to say that this was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had!
CAJUN FRIES (£2.50)
The cajun fries were incredibly moreish, but in the end it got a little too salty for our liking.
FERRERO ROCHER MILKSHAKE (£4)
To wash down all of our calories, we opted for a fattening Ferrero Rocher milkshake. If you’ve been reading my reviews for a while, you’ll know I’m a pretty fussy milkshake drinker. FatBoyz’ milkshake was great! It had the perfect consistency (thick but not TOO thick), creaminess and sweetness. I loved it! 😀
CONCLUSION
Overall I think FatBoyz Diner is simply an excellent place to visit! I did not expect to be so blown away by the food, and this place definitely deserves more recognition! The burgers are delicious and great value for money. The staff were friendly and our food arrived super quickly. Like I said above… it’s one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in London! I can’t wait to return to see if it’s as good as it was last time, and to try out more items from their menu.
