You may think I’m a little crazy, but today I travelled over an hour across London to get a sandwich! BUT it wasn’t just any sandwich… it was a halal pastrami sandwich! Halal pastrami is somewhat of a rarity in London and I’ve always been super jealous that I’ve had to miss out on all the meaty goodness. Thankfully a lovely lady called Darina spotted a gap in the market and decided to set up Bobata – a food truck serving halal Reuben sandwiches!
The truck can be found on North End Road Market in Fulham Broadway (right next to Jaffa Bakehouse).
Take a look at the menu…
I opted for smoked beef of course!
The beef is smoked for 8 hours and then steamed for a further 2 hours. I thought the beef was delicious and I enjoyed the salty flavour of the bark, however there were parts of the meat that were a little dry and chewy which made it difficult to eat.
It was sandwiched between two slices of sourdough bread along with yummy Swiss cheese, tangy sauerkraut, and Russian dressing!
Overall I thought the sandwich was delicious and filling (although a little chewy)! It’s incredibly exciting that this has popped up on London’s halal food scene and I would recommend giving it a go. Darina hopes to come to a more central location so keep an eye out.
P.S. Be aware that there is no seating available, however there is a small park with benches about a 10 minute walk away.
