Steakout Street Food Truck

Isn’t it funny that we all moan about cold and rainy British weather, but when the sun does decide to shine, we still complain? (I can put my hand up and say that I’m guilty of it too)! It’s been extremely hot, the trains are gross and there’s loads of creepy crawlies about… but barbeques and lots of ice cream have been helping me get through it. Summer evenings are amazing because it gets cooler and so on Sunday I checked out Steakout’s outdoor street food truck for dinner at Westfield Stratford, with two of my best friends from school.

The food truck is located in Chestnut Plaza (near Cabana and Busaba Eathai). The atmosphere was great, with seating just outside the truck and a grassy area with live music playing. On the day, Shake Shack had a stand with free ice-cream too (YAAS dessert sorted)!

Luckily there wasn’t a big queue so we got ordering…

Salted Caramel Milkshake (£3.50)

I’m kind of fussy about milkshakes so unfortunately I have to say it was not amazing. For the price, I expected better quality ice cream to be used.

BBQ Wings (£3)

The wings were okay, but I found them a bit too spicy!

We ordered two rib eye steaks and one philly steak with chips and sweet potato fries. Having been to Steakout’s restaurant in Tooting before, I did not expect an extremely high quality steak from them. This isn’t a steak similar to that of The Meat Co., and to be honest there was not much of a difference between the rib eye and philly… but for the price you can’t really expect much more!

The meat did have flavour and juiciness, which the fries soaked up nicely. It reminded me of a meal back home in South Africa and I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it. However, being a food blogger I have to rate it critically and let you guys know it’s more of a desi steak and not the best quality.

Would I come back? If I am in Westfield again, then yes! Halal street food is quickly expanding but other than this one, I’m yet to find a stand serving halal steak! (Let me know if I’m missing out)! The food, although not the best, was tasty, the atmosphere was great and I had a really fun time catching up with my friends!
