You know that feeling you get when you don’t expect something to be halal, and it is?? Well imagine that feeling x7! This weekend, KERB hosted “The Bucket List” which they labelled as “London’s Ultimate Fried Chicken Adventure”. Eight of London’s best traders would be serving up sizzling, spicy crunchiness and one would be crowned the winner. After a little digging, to my surprise 7 out of the 8 traders were going to be serving halal chicken and I couldn’t wait! It was perfectly scheduled just after my final exams so of course I HAD to go.
You could smell the chicken from a mile away and the anticipation was rising. When we arrived, it was pretty busy!
I grabbed a bucket, my chicken voucher and I was ready to go…
In order of preference:
This was AMAZING. Super juicy cocoa chilli and maple fillets with coriander mayo. Perfectly juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside!
Find them Mon – Sun at Pop Brixton
- Petare – Official Winners
Petare were the official winners of the challenge (although Other Side Fried slightly edged it for me). They served up yummy masa fried chicken with guava glaze and habanero mayo!
Find them Fri & Sat at Hawker House
Okay I lied before, I was surpised x6 … not x7, because you guys know I already love Mother Clucker!!! You can read about it in a previous blog post here.
Find them Mon – Sun at KERB Camden
Daja Chicken served up fried chicken with an Asian twist, and it was delicious! Double coated & double fried Asian tenders with modern flavours from the Far East.
Ginger beer battered jerk with jerk gravy.
Find them on Thurs at KERB KX
Szechuan miso tenders with fermented green chilli hot sauce.
Find them at KERB – Gherkin
‘KDFC’ in chipotle salt and crushed Chilli Heatwave tortilla chips.
Find them Mon – Sun at KERB Camden
Seven portions of chicken later, I left satisfied and fowl! ? Waheeey what a perfect way to end exams!
I hope you enjoyed this post and do let me know if you chick them out ?

I was there too and thought that Only Jerkin was the best! Also, I was surprised too by how many places were halal. Love your blog/instapage!
