HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
The 1st January 2018 marks the beginning of a new year and also MBFHB’s 3rd birthday! I would like to thank you all for everything during 2017. It was one of the best years of my life and it gave rise to opportunities that I never ever thought would happen. Whether it’s reading this post, watching my reveal on British Muslim TV, trying out one of my recipes or liking a post on Instagram… thank you so much for all of your support!
In MBFHB tradition, I decided to round up the year with a post all about the incredible things I ate in 2017…
In no particular order:
1. I kicked off the year at Kurobuta in January and had the best sweet potato fries of my life!!! Served with kimchee mayo.
2. The stone bass tikka at Jamavar is the best fish I’ve ever eaten. It’s mouth melting, full of flavour and has a slight smoke… fresh from the tandoor!

3. THE BEST CHICKEN BURGER EVER! Pretty sure you guys know by now that I’m Mother Clucker‘s number one fan!

4. 2017 was the year that I found my favourite Persian restaurant – Mahdi! Their juicy joojeh and succulent koobideh with buttery rice and white sauce is EVERYTHING!

5. BUTTERY roti canai at my favourite Malaysian restaurant in London! Roti King‘s food is cheap and cheerful – expect to pay around £6pp for an epic meal!

6. The incredibly moreish truffle fries from Burger UK!

7. I visited Paris and had one of the best pastries I’ve ever had. The escargot pistache et chocolat (pistachio and chocolate pastry) from Du Pains et des Idees.
Read all about my trip to Paris here.
8. The Angus steak from The Great Chase Restaurant. Most items at this restaurant are amazing but you can’t go wrong with steak!
Read my full review of their brunch here and dinner here.
9. I tried soup dumplings for the first time and they were amazing!!! It’s rare to find halal soup dumplings in London and I was grateful that I did. They were from a stall called Sheng High by someone called Felix. He is epic but unfortunately is not serving these regularly anymore. Keep an eye out on his IG page for rare dumpling appearances.
10. Fresh, authentic pasta from Padella! Be sure to try the crab, chilli and lemon taglierini.
11. Qabouli Pilaow from Ariana – fluffy rice with the softest lamb shank, carrots and raisins.

12. This flavoursome, delicous lamb kothu from Hoppers!

13. Haloodie Foodie‘s epic beef brisket served with beef butter! Absolutely amazing.
14. I had the best Knafeh ever in Singapore. It was served in a pool of cream and drizzled with chocolate.
Read my Singapore Travel Guide here.
15. This summer my family and I were able to cook up the best homemade steak we’ve ever made thanks to meat from Hill Farm Finest.
16. Cornflake French toast at Eggbreak.
17. Finally, the best and cheapest meal of the year! 30p for this epic roti canai from Devi’s Corner in KL, Malaysia! Be sure to try it with their curry dhaal as well as their Roti Boom (roti filled with palm sugar).
